Process Journal
Today I am trying out a process journal in a different format: a blog post. So far, I have made a lot of progress with the investigating and planning portion of the project. I found a topic, I changed it, then changed it again until I finally settled on interior design. I realized that designing the room itself would take up too much time and I would not be able to finish it by the deadline of the project, so I decided that the outcome could just be a 3D model of the room with a budget.
Then the planning began: I used the Home Design Software to figure out a plan for the room. I made it 3D and added windows and doors, along with measuring out the whole room. I took screenshots and pictures to record the process:
As far as creating the 3-D model, I have not gone as far as adding in the important details of the room, such as the wall color, flooring and windows. I have the materials that I need for the structure of the model and will use my "no homework weekend" (October 25-28) to make a lot of progress.
I investigated a lot of sources to use to help me learn about interior design along the way but I will continue to learn more about how to design and plan out a room. I recently found a video by BBC that laid out all of the steps for me:
Now I have begun creating the actual 3D model. I have a large styrofoam board for the base and 5 small boards for the walls. I have also bought some tough glue, glue dots and styrofoam cutters. I am encountering problems trying to get the walls to stand up by themselves, so I bought some pins the hold the wall to the ground while the glue hardens. I hope this idea works, or I will have to find a new way to keep the room together. I could use a glue gun, but that will be my last resort option because I am sure that I will burn myself.
As far as reflecting is going, I will continue to write process journals and start taking pictures of how the 3D model is going.
